<div itemprop="description">David Cherneski, beloved husband of Joeanne Cherneski; peacefully left this world with his family by his side on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Strathmore, Alberta at the age of 79 years. <br> <br>Dave was born November 9, 1937 in Goodeve, Saskatchewan and attended school in Prud’Homme, Goodeve, St. Joseph’s College in Yorkton, and Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon. After graduating from high school, Dave attended DeVry Technical Institute in Toronto, and became a certified television and radio technician. He worked on his trade while helping his Dad operate the Red and White General Store in Goodeve. After leaving the business sector, he attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and obtained his Bachelor of Education Degree. Dave spent two years teaching in Goodeve. <br> <br>On July 17, 1965 Dave and Joeanne married in Goodeve and then moved to Alberta. He taught in Bow Island, Drumheller, Grand Centre and Camrose. Dave taught for a total of twenty-five years, and later obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Saskatchewan. In 1970, Sheldon became part of the family and in 1974 Cheryl completed the family. Dave was devoted and proud father. In 1990, Dave left the teaching profession to become a realtor. <br> <br>Dave participated in many sports while growing up and as an adult. He played hockey, baseball, golfed, curled, and even won a table tennis championship. He enjoyed watching his favourite teams on television, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Edmonton Eskimos. <br> <br>Community Service was always an important aspect in Dave’s life wherever he lived. He was an active member, and held various positions in the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Lions Club. Dave was a Boys Scouts Leader, drove for Meals on Wheels, and helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity and donated his time at the ReStore in Camrose. Building houses was a great love of Dave’s for many years. He was a very proud blood donor and encouraged others to donate. When he reached one hundred whole blood donations, he was recognized by the Red Cross. <br> <br>In retirement, Dave became a snowbird and spent fourteen years in Yuma, Arizona. He enjoyed his time golfing, collecting stamps, balancing books, working on crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, playing pool and reading. <br> <br>Left to cherish his memory and miss him dearly are his wife of fifty-two years Joeanne; children Sheldon (Karen) of Surrey, BC, and Cheryl (Mike) of Airdrie, AB; grandchildren Tracey Pasloski (Brett), Casey Pasloski (Colin), Katie Brown, and Colby Cherneski; and great-grandchildren Kinsley and Beckett Pasloski. Dave will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Marianne Lorence (Lionel); brothers John (Emily) and Don (Judy); step-brother Matt Wonitowy (Marion); Joeanne’s family Allan Pillipow (Della), Minnie Bunting (Bill), Donna Libtika (Gord), Elaine Joel (Court), and Bernadette Bell (John). Dave was predeceased by his parents Louis “CL” and Mary, step-mother Mary, and sister Florence Vinnick. <br> <br>We will remember Dave as the kind, caring soul he truly was.
