<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, the family of Fred Chan announces his peaceful passing on April 5, 2017 at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary.&nbsp; <br> <br>Fred was born in Enping, Guangdang Province, China.&nbsp; To seek a better life, in September 1954 he travelled to Canada and settled in Saskatchewan to work with his uncle.&nbsp; He worked hard to learn the language and create a life in Canada before his wife Susan joined him in May 1959 and they moved to Vulcan, Alberta.&nbsp; Fred and Susan were married for over 62 years and they have five children.&nbsp; In 1966, the family moved to Calgary where Fred and Susan both worked in the restaurant industry.&nbsp; Fred was a chef at the East Gate Restaurant until he retired in 1992 to spend more time with grandchildren and the family.&nbsp; He was dedicated to his family and worked his entire life for them. <br> <br>Fred is survived by his loving wife, Susan Chan; his children: Rose Chan-Mountain (Michael), Helen (Grant) Chan-Lewis; Linda (Barry) Nagy, Ed (Jaylene) Chan, and John Chan; and treasured grandchildren: Miranda, Colyn, Kyle, Carson and Turner.&nbsp; <br> <br>The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care and compassion provided by the care teams at Dulcina Hospice and Peter Lougheed Hospital Unit 58.&nbsp; <br> <br>A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.&nbsp; <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.&nbsp; Any contributions received will be donated.&nbsp; <br> <br>To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca. <br></div>
