<div itemprop="description">George A. Arthurson, husband of Mrs. Yolande Arthurson, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on January 12, 2017 at the age of 82 years. <br><br>He was the loving father of Helene (Chris), of Calgary; Sandra, of Armstrong, BC; Carol (Rob), of Calgary; and Wayne (Auni), of Edmonton. He will be missed by his five grandchildren: Samantha, Shelby, Zoe, Raphael, and Vianne and lovingly remembered by his sisters Jean and Marilyn, his brothers Charlie and Oli, and many other relatives in Norway House, Grand Rapids and Winnipeg. <br><br>He was predeceased by his parents Ben and Andrina, and his brothers Bill, Ben and Walter.<br><br><br>George served for 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces in the PPCLI and the Canadian Airborne Regiment. Following his retirement from the Forces, he worked for the Calgary Public School Board until his retirement.<br><br>George was an avid golfer and curler. He also enjoyed officiating hockey games, dancing and having a good time with friends and family. He was a member of the Canadian Legion, the PPCLI Association and volunteered for many years at the Military Museums in Calgary. <br><br>A Celebration of George’s life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in George’s name to the Military Museums in Calgary (4520 Crowchild Trail SW, Calgary, AB T2T 5J4). <br><br>To express condolences, please visit www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.<br></div>
