The Starozik family announces the peaceful passing of George Starozik, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. George was 90 years old.
George was born in Rimbey, AB and lived on the family farm NW of Rimbey until age 19 when he left for college and other interests. He later went on to become a successful innovator and entrepreneur within the oil industry, most notably Camaro Drilling he started in 1978. George greatly enjoyed his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and hunting, but his true passion was fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and carpentry. George was a generous supporter of Camp Harmattan, a Christian retreat located west of Olds, AB and of Calgary Center Street Church where he enjoyed many friends within the Maranatha seniors group.
George is survived by his loving wife Doreen of Calgary, his sons Kevin Starozik and Dale Starozik of Calgary and daughter Carol Snaith (Gregory) of Edmonton. He is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Nastiuk, Jaclyn Stang (Evan), Curtis Starozik, and Gillian Snaith, brother Glen Staroszik (Elsie) of Calgary and sister Alice Beierbach of Medicine Hat. George was predeceased by his father Gustav Staroszik (1984) and mother Waiva Staroszik (1978), sister Florence Jeske (2016), and brothers Harold (2016), Earl (2004), and Gordon (2016).
The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 - 100 Street SE (Garden Road) Calgary) on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, George's request was that donations be made to Camp Harmattan, RR2, Site 7, Box 20, Olds, AB T4H 1P3.
George shall be forever cherished and remembered by his family and friends.
