On Monday, November 28, 2016, we lost an amazing, kind and gentle man. Ken was father and best friend to Wayne and Cathy Gray and the finest grandfather to Jenna (Jason Dimnik) and Tanner. Dad suffered a stroke in October 2014 and it has been a long, hard journey but our dad was a fighter! He was an inspiration to everyone he met. Dad taught us all about determination and perseverance, no matter what the circumstances. Family was most important to Dad and he was overjoyed to become a grandfather. Jenna and Tanner were the apple of his eye and he spent much of his retired life attending their sports, music and school functions.

Ken will be reunited with his infant son, Dale, and his wife, Ruth, who passed away in April 2016. Ken and Ruth were sweethearts for 64 years. They lived in the Winston Heights community for 60 years and loved their home and their neighbors. Ken was employed as a switchman at CPR for 45 years.

This true gentleman will be remembered for his beautiful spirit and his gentle smile. He was our hero whom we loved dearly and he will be missed terribly. He gave so much to everyone and it was an honour to be able to care for him these past few years. Heaven has gained an awesome angel!

The family would like to extend a grateful, heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Mary Wallace, and a special thank you to Scott Patterson and all the wonderful staff at Revera Evergreen Retirement Home. They gave such good care to Ken and to Wayne and Cathy…they were like family to us.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Ken’s Life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Garden of Heritage, Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, Ken’s family would be very grateful for a donation to the Alberta Children’s Hospital (2888 Shaganappi Trail NW, Calgary, AB T3B 6A8).

To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.
