<div itemprop="description"><br />ZANDSTRA, Marie Claire<br />September 7, 1928 - October 17, 2015<br /><br />Marie Claire Zandstra passed away in Edmonton, AB on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the age of 87 years. <br /><br />She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Michelle Zandstra, Monique (Ray) Zandstra-Hamel, Bernette (Duane) Crawley; and her grandchildren: Renee, Michael, Nicole, Robyn and Randi. Marie Claire was predeceased by her husband Luke Zandstra, parents Alfred and Marie Rose Fauchon and siblings: Claude, Evelyn, Andy and Gerald. Marie was born in Ponteix, SK on September 7, 1928. <br /><br />She was the second oldest of ten children of a farming family. Marie graduated as a registered nurse in 1951 and worked in several hospitals within Alberta before joining the R.C.A.F. in 1956. She was posted in Europe where she worked and travelled extensively. Marie had a wonderful nursing career. In 1979 she became &ldquo;Director of Nursing&rdquo; at Extendicare, Bonnyville, AB. Upon retirement in 1987 she and Luke moved to Calgary. Marie volunteered throughout her life. She was very involved with St. Vincent De Paul as well as many other charities. Marie was known to many for her love of cards, mainly Bridge. In 2014, Marie moved to Edmonton to be closer to her family. <br /><br />Marie was always looking her best and was a perfect lady until the end. She was a wonderful role model to many and will be missed dearly by all of those who knew and adored her. <br /><br />Memorial donations in Marie&rsquo;s name may be made directly to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Box 18035 Shawnessy, Calgary, Alberta T2Y 3W0). <br /><br />A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. Patrick Parish (1414 Shawnessy Blvd SW, Calgary, AB). <br /><br />To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca. <br /><br /></div>
