Mark Michael Badick, P.Eng.

Mark was born with that unforgettable laugh and glimmer in his eye in Drayton Valley, April 10, 1963 and he passed away in Calgary on January 25, 2017, after an aggressive battle with cancer. After graduating high school, much to his Mum’s relief, Mark worked various jobs including as a ticketed welder within the oilfield industry. Following the Gulf War, where he was employed as a well control specialist for Safety Boss, Mark went to university at Montana Tech where he obtained his degree as an Environmental Engineer. Mark’s occupations allowed him to see many parts of the world including the Middle East, China, Bangladesh, Malta and Thailand. His strong work ethic was undeniable.

Keeping his memory alive is his adoring wife of nearly 11 years, Bobbi. He loved his two sons Alex and Erik with all his heart, forever and ever. They were the absolute apples of his eye and he adored them. His Mum, Susan, absolutely cherished her son. Mark’s sister, Carla went to heaven three years prior to ensure she was there to catch Mark and there, the disagreements will continue. Mark’s dad, Bob Beaudreau, was honoured by Mark and he cherished every crib game even if he had to throw the odd one so Bob could win. He loved his mother-in-law Sylvia’s potato salad, even though he couldn’t handle eggs. Mark was incredibly proud of the life his brother-in-law Rob and his wife Micheleen, built for themselves in BC and the way their lives had settled. He is also survived by his uncle Mike Miller and his family, his Uncle Cliff and his cousins of the Glazier and Badick family.

A lover of all classic rides, he could tell you the year, make and model of every piece that crossed the Barrett Jackson line. He took his fashion sense from no one, and would sport his Stamps jersey, holey sweats, or logoed t-shirt at any opportunity or formal event. His disdain for barking dogs knew no boundaries, but his softness for his favourite furry buddies was evident prior to his passing. He hated the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars and could not get to the controls fast enough to turn that shit off. An expert golfer at heart, his skill never met his ambition. He could fix anything and would be the first guy there to repair a window, build a fence, fix plumbing in a trailer, or get the pond filled up in his back yard or crawl under his truck to add that extra grease nipple.

Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday consisted of football and even during his final days he couldn’t wait to see where he was positioned in the standings in the office pool and he wants the boys to know his pick for the Super Bowl is the New England Patriots! Sometimes he had to juggle the football games with the NASCAR race to see where his favourite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was running.

The moustache was epic and envied. Other men even thought that ‘stache was sexy. Movember came every month and he never shaved if off even once from the time he was able to grow one. He gave the best hugs, holding tight always longer than the recipient was comfortable with just so you knew that he loved you. We cross people in our lives and often we forget what is said but we never forget how they made us feel. We all know how Mark made us feel.

A Celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 100 Street SE Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5 .

To express condolences, please visit www.mountainviewmemorial.ca
