Yvon (Frenchie) Chauvin, beloved husband of Janet Chauvin of Calgary passed away at the Monterey Place Nursing Home on April 2, 2017 at the age of 77 years.

He was the loving father of Michelle Johnson and son-in-law Clark, Shelley Russell and son-in-law Randy, all of Calgary. He will be dearly missed by his two grandchildren, Crysta and Chelsea Windsor. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Armand, Gilles, Gaston and his sister, Dolores and numerous family members and close friends across Canada.

He was predeceased by his parents, Armand and Marie and by his brother, Gerald.

Dad grew up on a farm in St- Louis de Richelieu where he would fix all the old machinery. His passion was cars and trucks including stock car racing which he did for a few years before coming to Calgary in 1961. Dad landed a job at Alberta Tractor where he began working on all kinds of heavy duty equipment. His interest in motors was sparked. He began his Heavy Duty Apprenticeship while working at R Angus. The license was not easy to obtain as, at the time, Dad knew little English. He passed with flying colors! This launched his lifetime career where he met many friends who knew him as Frenchie. His love for tinkering on cars continued throughout his entire life. If he wasn’t with family, you could find him outside by a vehicle doing what he loved best.

Dad was a soft hearted, unselfish man with a keen sense of humor. To know Dad was to love him. He will be truly missed.

A special thanks to his extended family at Monterey Place. Your compassion and kindness meant everything and will never be forgotten.

As per Dad’s request there will not be a formal service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Yvon’s memory may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada 20 Eglinton Avenue W., 16th Floor Toronto ON, M4R 1K8 or www.alzheimer.ca

To express condolences, please visit www.mountainviewmemorial.ca

WHEN I COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD

When I come to the end of the road
And see the sun set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free.

Miss me a little – but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared
Miss me – but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me – but let me go.
