Linton Arthur Stephenson passed away peacefully at Calgary Foothills Hospital surrounded by the love of his wife and family.

At 94, Lint had a long life - well lived. Leaving the family farm near Girvin, SK in 1941 he trained for Air crew and in the spring of 1943 Lint joined the crew of a new Lancaster as Tail Gunner. Based in Waltham, Yorkshire they flew three successful missions but were shot down over Holland returning from the fourth. Lint was the lone survivor that fateful night and miraculously went on to survive over two years in POW camps. To know Lint was to know a gentle, caring and thoughtful man yet one with incredible strengths of resolve, self-discipline and fortitude. He loved his music, his hockey, his friends and his family - he loved life.

Lint leaves behind his loving wife Joyce of 68 years, son Terry (Kathy); daughters: Debbie (Bob) MacLeod and Lorna; grandchildren: Mike, Jeff, Harley, Mercedes and Jonas as well as five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Wayne (Darlene) and sister Ruth (Ron) Fleming.

We would particularly like to thank Dr. Monica Kidd as well as the Doctors and Nurses of Unit 82 at the Foothills Hospital for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorial tributes in Lint’s memory may be made directly to the Calgary Aero Space Museum (4629 McCall Way NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 8A5).

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.

Arrangements entrusted to Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home, Reception Centre & Crematorium, 1605 - 100 Street SE (GPS: 242013 - 100 Street SE), Calgary, AB (403) 272-5555.
