<div itemprop="description">Rose, the oldest of five sisters was born in Bellevue, Alberta. &nbsp;She and her family moved to Winnipeg at an early age. &nbsp;<br /><br />The family encountered hard times during the thirties but at around the age of twenty-three Rose and her husband purchased a large rooming house down the road from the University of Winnipeg on Spence Street. &nbsp;Rose put her brilliance in cooking and entertaining to good use as she welcomed residents into her home for over thirty years. &nbsp;She shared many stories with her family about the interesting and very successful residents she housed over the years including many from the early CBC television studio. &nbsp;<br /><br />Rose was a strong advocate for the less fortunate in her community and enjoyed volunteering at the church. &nbsp;For 10 years, Rose participated in outreach work at St Mark&rsquo;s Parish. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling around the community to pray and bring good meals to those in need of spiritual support and guidance. &nbsp;<br /><br />In addition to her love of gourmet cooking and baking, Rose enjoyed bowling, gardening and taking road trips to California. &nbsp;Rose had a love of animals and appreciated the beauty of nature. &nbsp;Rose was a kind, compassionate, fun- loving and vibrant person who will be missed by all those who knew her. &nbsp;<br /><br />Rose&nbsp; was predeceased by her husband Joseph, son Steve and friend Don. &nbsp;She is survived by her son Joseph and daughter-in-law Beverly, grandchildren, Dean, April (Drew), Laura, Karen, Charlene (Trevor), Rachel and many great grandchildren. &nbsp;Rose&rsquo;s sisters Annie, Glady, Stephie (Len) and Lily will miss her greatly along with her brother-in-law Emil, sister-in-law Annie, numerous nieces and nephews, Godson (Gary), and many friends. <br /><br />&nbsp;A special thank you to loving daughter-in-law Beverly for her unwavering devotion in caring for her Mother-in-law over the past five years. &nbsp;A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Cedars Villas Extendicare for their work in supporting Rose over the past two and half years. &nbsp;We&rsquo;ll miss seeing your beautiful smile Grandma but we know you are smiling down on us from heaven. &nbsp;You are forever in our hearts and we love you very much. &nbsp;&ldquo;The greatest of these is love&rdquo;. &nbsp;<br /><br />Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service at the Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 1515 - 100 Street SE, Calgary on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. (All attending please meet at Mountain View Funeral Home).&nbsp; A Reception to Celebrate her Life will follow in the Arbor Lounge.&nbsp; To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca. <br />&nbsp;<br /></div>
